KYIV, Oct. 3, 2026 — Russian attacks across Ukraine have killed at least eight civilians and injured 81 others over the past day, according to regional authorities, as Russian forces also targeted another major bridge in the capital Kyiv.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 157 drones, including Shahed and Gerbera drones, some of them jet-powered, as well as Parodiya decoy drones. Ukrainian forces reported intercepting 131 of the drones, while strikes were recorded at 12 locations and falling debris at five other sites.
In Kyiv, Russian forces struck the Northern Bridge over the Dnipro River, a key crossing connecting the eastern and western parts of the capital. No casualties were immediately reported from the strike.
Videos circulating on social media appeared to show a large explosion on the bridge as vehicles were crossing. Reuters reported that Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the bridge’s road surface and trolleybus power cables were damaged, prompting authorities to suspend traffic.
The strike came after several recent attacks on Kyiv’s bridges. On Oct. 2, a Russian drone struck the Southern Bridge, marking the fourth reported drone strike against the crossing in two days. The repeated attacks have disrupted traffic and placed additional pressure on Kyiv’s transportation network.
Heavy casualties reported in Kharkiv
Kharkiv Oblast suffered some of the heaviest casualties. Regional authorities said five people were killed and 49 injured during Russian glide-bomb and drone attacks over the previous 24 hours.
In the city of Kharkiv, two people were killed and 42 others injured after glide bombs struck three areas. The attacks damaged private homes, an educational facility, office buildings, vehicles and power infrastructure.
Attacks reported across several regions
In Sumy Oblast, three people were killed and 10 injured in overnight artillery, glide-bomb and drone attacks. Several settlements also reported damage to civilian infrastructure.
In Donetsk Oblast, nine people were injured, while apartment buildings, private homes, shops, administrative buildings and vehicles were damaged.
Four people were injured in Kherson Oblast, where attacks also damaged critical and civilian infrastructure. In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, two people were injured after Russian forces carried out hundreds of attacks against dozens of settlements.
In the city of Dnipro, a Russian strike hit a residential building, injuring four women aged 55, 62, 77 and 88. A business center was also struck for the second time this week, according to regional authorities.
Meanwhile, Mykolaiv Oblast came under a mass attack involving Shahed drones and an Iskander-M ballistic missile. Three men were injured, with two remaining hospitalized in serious condition. Port and civilian infrastructure, including administrative, industrial and residential buildings and vehicles, was damaged.
The latest attacks demonstrate the continued intensity of Russia’s long-range aerial campaign against Ukraine, with strikes affecting both major cities and infrastructure across multiple regions.
Russia has previously denied intentionally targeting civilians, while Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly reported civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure from Russian attacks.
