The death toll from Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza has reached 73,910 nearly a year after a designated “ceasefire” took effect. According to figures released by Gaza’s Health Ministry on Saturday, the number of injured currently stands at 174,914.
The true scale of the casualties is expected to be significantly higher, as thousands of Palestinians are believed to remain buried under the rubble across the enclave.
Researchers project that the finalized death toll will exceed 100,000 once all victims are fully accounted for. This projection aligns with a November study published by the Germany-based Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, which estimated that 100,000 people were killed in Gaza during the first two years of the conflict.
Israel initially launched its siege of the territory on October 8, 2023.
