Musab Al Juwayr Dropped from Saudi Arabia's Gulf Cup Squad

Host nation Saudi Arabia has announced the exclusion of Musab Al Juwayr from their squad for the upcoming 27th Arabian Gulf Cup. The national team cited unspecified “disciplinary reasons” for his removal from the training camp in Jeddah.

The Saudi national team released a statement on X, confirming that the technical and administrative staff made the decision to exclude the player, but did not provide further details regarding the nature of the disciplinary issue. A replacement for Al Juwayr is expected to be named at a later time.

The 23-year-old playmaker, who currently plays for Al Qadsiah, had initially been selected for the 26-man squad by Greek coach Georgios Donis earlier in the week. Al Juwayr, a former player for Al Hilal and Al Shabab, previously featured in Saudi Arabia’s World Cup squad this summer. He has earned 39 caps and scored 6 goals for his country.

The Arabian Gulf Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia, running from Wednesday until October 6. Saudi Arabia will begin their Group A campaign against Kuwait on Wednesday, followed by matches against Oman and Iraq.
